Moby's Beachside Retreat: website build and SEO cleanup for a Boomerang Beach resort

How JWWD built and looks after the website for a beachside resort in Pacific Palms, and cleared out years of outdated content so search shows the resort as it is today.

The brief

Moby’s Beachside Retreat sits 100 metres from Boomerang Beach, between Seal Rocks and Forster, with self-contained beach houses, a heated lagoon-style pool, a tennis court and its own restaurant and bar.

A resort website has a few clear jobs: show the place off, answer guests’ questions, and get them to book direct. Over the years the site had also collected a lot of content for things Moby’s no longer offers, and Google was still sending people to it.

What we built

JWWD built the Moby’s Beachside Retreat website in WordPress and continues to look after it. Built in collaboration with Dreamtown Creative and Terry Webster.

  • Stay: one, two and three-bedroom beach houses, with clear paths to book direct.
  • Facilities and Eats: the pool, playground, tennis court and Sips @ Mobys, the on-site restaurant and bar.
  • Buy a Beach House: a page for people interested in owning one of the resort’s beach houses.
  • Blog: local guides and stories, with a custom category filter so guests can jump straight to what interests them.

Clearing out the past

Old pages don’t just look dated. They send search traffic to the wrong place and blur what the resort is about. We worked through the cleanup in stages, with the client signing off each step:

  • Retired services removed properly. Content for services the resort no longer offers was taken down with “410 Gone” responses, which tells Google to drop it quickly.
  • Restaurant content consolidated. Old menus and restaurant pages were folded into a rebuilt Eats page around Sips @ Mobys, with redirects so existing links still land somewhere useful.
  • Buyer traffic recovered. Links to old beach house sales documents now redirect to the Buy a Beach House page.
  • Redirects rebuilt from scratch as a short list of deliberate rules, with posts that still bring in visitors kept.

Making the location work harder

Guests search for the area as much as the resort. The homepage now leads with where Moby’s is and what’s nearby: Boomerang and Blueys beaches, Pacific Palms, Seal Rocks, Booti Booti and Forster. Each facility has its own clear section.

Behind the scenes, we fixed an old speed setting that had been stripping the site’s web fonts, sorted redirect and indexing issues, and set up instant indexing so changes reach search engines quickly.

The result

A cleaner, more focused site that describes the resort as it is today, with search engines pointed at the pages that matter: the beach houses, the facilities and booking direct. Built and looked after by JWWD.
